Lt. Robert V. Kneer organized a detail to catch a suspected car thief with the assistance of Det. Timothy O'Shaughnessy and P.O. Anthony Lugo. The team observed the suspect enter the Borough of Fair Lawn, via Broadway, and steal a car. The suspect was apprehended after a brief foot and car chase.

Officers responded to a call of three suspicious males outside of a home, who were making their way inside. As the Officers entered the home, they discovered the suspects hiding in a shower, as well as a handgun on the shower floor. The officers were awarded the Honorable Service Award. P.O. Luis Vasquez and P.O. Christopher Siano arrived on a scene and found Barry Friedman not breathing. The Officers performed CPR/defibrillation and saved Mr. Friedman's life. Det/Sgt. Brian Metzler, Sgt. Lonnie Mergler and P.O. Sean Nagle arrived on the scene and found a man lying face down on 2nd Street. The Officers performed CPR/defibrillation and saved his life. The above nine officers responded on a report of a barricaded subject inside of a residence. When officers arrived the subject exited the home with a shotgun.
